Wow! Wow! Wow! Last night I attended an event and who was the speaker? Ms. Nichelle Nichols, the beautiful Uhura herself. Now how old this woman is I can't tell you, but I can say that I need to have a drink from whatever fountain she's drinking from. DAMN!! She exudes.... everything.
She told a story that will remain with me until... She spoke of how she came to be hired for the job of working on Star Trek. She shared that she did not want to work in television and how she was in Paris preparing herself for Broadway when she got the call to come to Los Angeles and audition for the series. After being on the show and having huge success she went to Gene Roddenberry and told him that it was time for her to leave. Broadway was calling her name and she was ready to ride that wave. He told her to think about it for a few days, and the very next day she met Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who told her that her image was so important to the world, she couldn't quit.
Thank you Ms. Nichols for that story. I realized that when God has a certain plan for your life there is nothing that you can do to stop him. You don't have to push. Just wait, settle, and it will come.
